Max Forti è un imprenditore nel cuore. Appassionato collezionista di fragranze Max ha deciso di condividere il suo entusiasmo con altri appassionati creando contenuti sul mondo del profumo aprendo nel 2012 ha aperto il suo canale YouTube, che ha ottenuto riconoscimenti globali nella comunità delle fragranze. Max è considerato un esperto di profumi e ha lavorato, e lavora, con numerosi brand non solo sulle sue piattaforme di social media, ma come consulente e valutatore di fragranze.
La passione di Max per l’originalità, l’innovazione e la diversità nella profumeria di nicchia lo ha portato all’ideazione di ScentXplore. L’evento, che quest’anno si svolgerà il 2 e 3 dicembre a New York City, è la realizzazione della missione di Max di riunire le persone e aiutarle a scoprire nuove possibilità e l’opportunità di conoscere meglio il mondo della profumeria connettendosi con una nicchia esclusiva di profumi, direttori creativi, esperti del settore, profumieri, creatori di contenuti e appassionati di fragranze in tutto il mondo.

Come è nato il tuo amore per i profumi? Da Azzaro Pour Homme. Ricordo che da bambino, in prima elementare, ho spruzzato Azzaro Pour Homme di mio padre e sono andato a scuola. L’odore era così forte che il mio insegnante mi ha fatto uscire dalla classe. È stato proprio lì che ho capito il potere che le fragranze hanno sulle persone. Fin da piccolo ho sempre amato i profumi. Mia madre mi spruzzava una colonia di lavanda e mi ha detto che il profumo è stata una delle mie prime parole, quando ero un piccolo chiedevo “CUME”, riferendosi al profumo, perché volevo che me lo spruzzasse addosso.
Quanti profumi possiedi? Al momento, mentre rispondo a questo questionario, ho poco più di 4000 bottiglie…
Puoi parlaci di ScentXplore? Certo, con piacere. ScentXplore nasce dalla passione, non solo per le fragranze, ma anche dal desiderio di riunire le persone con il magico interesse che condividiamo. Volevo che fosse un luogo in cui i ricordi venivano creati e condivisi attraverso il bellissimo senso dell’olfatto. E niente di più intricato e unico che sperimentarlo attraverso le fragranze di nicchia. ScentXplore è una convention sui profumi, esclusivamente di nicchia, in cui le persone scoprono nuovi odori, condividono la loro passione e si connettono con appassionati che la pensano allo stesso modo in tutto il mondo. L’esperienza consente agli appassionati di fragranze di esplorare e saperne di più su alcune delle migliori, più uniche e artistiche creazioni di profumi di nicchia degli straordinari espositori di marchi di nicchia di tutto il mondo. È anche un’opportunità per i marchi di nicchia più piccoli di avere un punto di riferimento ed essere scoperti. Il primo profumo ricevuto in regalo. La prima fragranza che ho ricevuto in regalo è stata Dune di Christian Dior. Mi piaceva molto.
Primo profumo acquistato. Il primo profumo che ho comprato è stato un Calvin Klein chiamato Calvin, l’ho ritirato in un CVS (negozio di farmacia) locale qui negli Stati Uniti durante il mio primo anno (avevo 17 anni) al liceo, avevo bisogno di qualcosa di speciale per il cotillon invernale di feste….
Che tipo di profumi preferisci? Di solito prediligo la famiglia legnosa-speziata con profumi che contengono note come: note liquorose, cuoio e tabacco. Ma sono anche un grande fan della famiglia Fougère: lavanda, muschio di quercia (il mio elemento preferito in profumeria) e cumarina (tonka ). Quindi direi i Fougère e le variazioni di questo genere.
Nella tua collezione hai diversi profumi dello stesso brand? Certo, per semplificare le cose, nominerò 2 marchi che amo e di cui ho più profumi. Un designer: Christian Dior e un brand di nicchia: Amouage. Dior: Credo che nel corso degli anni abbiano mostrato un’incredibile abilità artistica e raffinatezza con le loro creazioni che sono sempre state per la maggior parte molto eleganti e di tendenza. Amouage: ha portato la nicchia a un altro livello nel corso degli anni con la qualità, la misteriosità e l’esotismo delle loro miscele. È sicuramente la nicchia al suo meglio.
Tra i tuoi profumi, quello che ti rappresenta di più? Devo dire che è Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, la versione italiana prodotta nel 1994 fino al 2000. Un profumo alla lavanda (stile da barbiere) con uno splendido tocco di tabacco biondo. Per molte ragioni (ho così tanti ricordi ed emozioni legati a questa fragranza) questo è quello che considero il mio profumo caratteristico, l’unica versione di cui ho più bottiglie, e questo profilo olfattivo mi descrive perfettamente; gentiluomo, di classe e invitante.
Il profumo che ti fa sentire potente e sicuro di te. Ce ne sono molti che si adatterebbero a questa categoria, Patou Pour Homme, Amouage Reflection Man, Cartier Pasha Parfum, Tom Ford Italian Cypress, Creed Viking solo per citarne alcuni grandiosi…
Il profumo che ti fa tornare bambino. Dovrebbe essere qualcosa di giocoso e dolce come A*Men di Mugler, odora di carnevale, zucchero filato, cioccolato, ecc…
Il profumo che hai usato più a lungo. Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (edizione dal 1994 al 2000 circa – versione made in Italy). E’ nella mia collezione da oltre 25 anni!
Il profumo che indossi oggi. El di Arquiste che è Potente – Tradizionale – Animalico. La fragranza è una creazione di Rodrigo-Flores Roux – un profumiere che ammiro molto per la sua versatilità e gusto. El è una creazione moderna con un tocco tradizionale…
Un profumo che evoca momenti felici. Indubbiamente una fragranza che mi fa sentire molto spensierata e felice è Wet Stone di Amouroud: c’è qualcosa di così edificante e frizzante in quel profumo che mi fa sorridere.
Se dovessi scegliere un solo profumo da portare su un’isola deserta, quale sarebbe? Assolutamente Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (dal 1994 al 2000 circa) (versione made in Italy). Perché è una fragranza che ho indossato per i momenti più importanti della mia vita nel corso degli anni… Su un’isola deserta potrei rivivere e ricordare quei momenti…

The perfume you stole from your father when you were a little boy. Azzaro Pour Homme.
How was your love for perfumes born? From Azzaro pour homme. As a kid in first grade (7 years old), I doused myself in my dad’s Azzaro pour homme and went to class. The smell was so strong that my teacher removed me from class. It was right there and then that I realized the power that fragrances had on people… From an earlier age, I always loved smelling good. My mom used to spritz lavender cologne on me and she tells me that perfume was one of my first words (I used to ask for ‘’CUME” referring to perfume when I was a little boy) as I wanted her to spritz it on me…
How many perfumes do you own? At the present time as I’m answering this questionnaire, I have a little over 4000 bottles… I know, it’s sick!
Could you talk about ScentXplore? Sure, with pleasure. ScentXplore was born out of passion – not only for fragrances but also the desire of bringing people together with the magical interest we share in common. I wanted it to be a place where memories were created and shared through the beautiful sense of smell. And nothing more intricate and unique than experiencing that through niche fragrances…
So much so that it is a perfume convention exclusively for niche perfumes where people get to discover new smells, share their passion and connect with like-minded aficionados worldwide. The experience allows fragrance enthusiasts to explore and learn more in depth about some of the best, most unique and artistic niche perfume creations from the amazing niche brand exhibitors from around the globe. It is also an opportunity for smaller niche brands to have a spotlight and be discovered by their art and creations. ScentXplore is a way to bring people knowledge, connections, joy and pleasant surprises… It is so rewarding to see the smile on people’s faces and to see how much fun they have every year with the event – that feeling is mutual and priceless to me. As Maya Angelou so eloquently once said: ‘‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did – but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
First perfume you received as a gift. The first fragrance I received as a gift was Christian Dior’s Dune. I liked it a lot.
First perfume purchased. The first fragrance I bought was a Calvin Klein called Calvin, I picked it up at a local CVS (pharmacy store) here in the US during my junior year (I was 17) in high-school, I needed something special for the winter cotillion dance…
What kind of perfumes do you prefer? I usually favor the woody-spicy family with scents that contain notes like: boozy notes, leather and tobacco… But I’m a huge fan of the Fougère family: Lavender, Oakmoss (my favorite element in perfumery) and Coumarin (Tonka) – So, I guess you could say that Fougère and variations of this genre is my favorite!
Do you have several perfumes from the same brand among the perfumes you own? Now, here’s a loaded question! Sure, I have multiple bottles of many brands – it’s really hard to pin-point one (too many to name) – but if you want to know my favorite brand that would be another loaded question. So, to make things easier I will name 2 brands that I love and have multiple bottles from. One designer: Christian Dior and one niche: Amouage.
Dior: I believe over the years have shown tremendous artistry and refinement with their creations which were always for the most part very classy and trendsetter.
Amouage: on the other hand, has taken niche to another level over the years with the quality, mysteriousness and exoticness of their blends. It’s definitely niche at its finest.
Among your perfumes, what represents you the most is ? I would have to say it is Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme, the Italian version made in 1994 until 2000. This is a lavender scent (barbershop style) with a gorgeous blond tobacco twist. For many reasons (I have so many memories and emotions attached to this fragrance) this is the one I consider to be my signature scent (the single release I have the most bottles of) and this scent profile describes me perfectly. (Gentlemanly, Classy and Inviting)
The perfume that makes you feel powerful and confident. There are many ones that would fit this category, here are some mentions: Patou Pour Homme, Amouage Reflection Man, Cartier Pasha Parfum, Tom Ford Italian Cypress, Creed Viking just to name a few great ones…
The perfume that makes you a child again. It would have to be something playful and sweet… I’d have to go with A*Men from Mugler, it smells like a carnival, cotton-candy, chocolate, etc…
The perfume you have used the longest. Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (circa 1994 to 2000 edition – made in Italy version). This has been in my collection and rotation for over 25 years!
The perfume you are wearing today. Can you describe it to me with three adjectives? Currently wearing, El by Arquiste which is Powerful – Traditional – Animalistic
The fragrance is a Rodrigo-Flores Roux creation – a perfumer I admire a lot for his versatility and taste. El is a modern creation with a traditional twist…
A perfume that evokes happy moments.Undoubtably a fragrance that makes me feel very carefree and happy is Wet Stone by Amouroud – there’s something so uplifting and sparkling about that scent that just puts a smile on my face.
If you were forced to choose just one perfume to take to a desert island, what would it be? Absolutely, no questions or two ways about it – Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (circa 1994 to 2000) edition (made in Italy version). Because it’s a fragrance that I wore for the most important moments in my life over the years… On a desert island I would be able to relive and reminisce those moments…
