Primo ricordo olfattivo..Il mio primo ricordo olfattivo è legato a forti sentori legnosi, molto probabilmente di mio padre che mi teneva in braccio da bambino. Il legno di sandalo, il legno di cedro, il vetiver e le note legnose in generale, che amo e utilizzo nella maggior parte delle mie fragranze, riportano il senso di sicurezza, fiducia e potere.
Come è nato il tuo amore per le fragranze? Il mio amore per le fragranze è iniziato fin da piccolo, quando scoprivo I profumi che si trovavano nel boudoir di mia nonna. Erano principalmente fragranze floreali e lei aveva una vasta selezione con molte bottiglie interessanti, alcune delle quali collezionava per anni. Tuttavia è stato sviluppato nel corso degli anni, poiché ho anche iniziato a fare tesoro delle fragranze e ho continuato da adulto. Mi è piaciuto scoprire profumi nuovi e unici.
Cos’è per te il profumo? Il profumo è espressione di sé; arricchisce di emozioni la nostra quotidianità e la rende appassionata, vibrante e potente.
Puoi dirci qualcosa sul tuo marchio? Manos Gerakinis Parfums, la prima casa di profumeria greca di lusso, esplora i valori della vita e le diverse culture. Il nostro scopo è abbracciare l’Individualità. In questo modo rompiamo i confini, fluttuando tra l’Oriente e l’Occidente, il maschile e il femminile, la semplicità e la stravaganza.
Puoi parlarci della tua ultima creazione? La mia ultima creazione è ΜΕΘΕXIS e sarà lanciata a luglio. È una dolce fragranza gourmand con fichi, miele e cacao. È molto sensuale, crea dipendenza e si ispira alla nostra eredità mediterranea.
Nella collezione, quale profumo ti rappresenta di più? È molto difficile sceglierne uno perché un piccolo pezzo di me vive in ogni creazione. La mia prima fragranza, Sillage Royal, cattura il potere e il successo di un individuo, Rose Poetique è più fragile e romantica, Anthem è coraggioso mentre Quintessence è sicuro di sé. Allora come potrei scegliere una singola parte di me stesso?
Qual è il best seller della collezione? Immortelle è molto popolare; è una fragranza gourmand che crea dipendenza. È davvero unica, ricorda le vacanze, i momenti di svago e divertimento.
Un odore senza il quale non puoi vivere? Fiori! Amo i fiori di tutti i tipi e principalmente le rose. Mi ricordano L’infanzia, i miei cari: mia nonna era appassionata di gardenie, mia madre di mughetto e io amo ogni sorta di orchidee e tulipani mentre il mio vero amore sono le rose.
Un odore che ami…Amo l’odore di libri. Ogni volta che apro un libro mi sembra di poterne annusare l’essenza. Sembra una connessione istantanea con la sua anima.
Un odore di cibo che ami…È difficile, perché ho un debole per i dolci e sceglierei sicuramente la cheesecake al limone. Adoro l’odore di panna mescolato con il succo di limone e la crosta burrosa. Anche mentre lo immagino, posso immaginare il profumo degli ingredienti freschi!
Un odore che ti fa sentire di nuovo bambino…Sarebbero fragole, forse anche gelato alla fragola. Riporta quella sensazione di una ciotola piena mentre alcune cadono sul pavimento mentre stai cercando di mangiarli tutte in una volta.
Che odore ha la tua casa? La mia casa profuma di mandorlo dolce in primavera/estate e di note legnose in autunno/inverno. Mi piace cambiare in diverse stagioni, quindi mi adeguo meglio al tempo mentre cambio i colori, ecc.
L’odore della tua città. Ho vissuto in molte città ma devo citare la mia città natale, Kavala, che odora di fumo: la ricchezza del paese derivava dalla coltivazione del tabacco. Attualmente vivo ad Atene, che odora di aranci amari e gelsomino. Il suo profumo crea dipendenza per me e l’ho usato per la mia collezione di candele.
Collezioni qualcosa? Sì, amo collezionare cose. Ho una vasta collezione di francobolli datati 1863 (i primi francobolli emessi in Grecia), ma credo anche di avere una grande collezione di fragranze.

In primo luogo, dovrebbe essere il Cavo Tagoo Hotel a Mykonos, poiché il suo profumo è molto forte e riporta alla memoria le vacanze sull’isola, momenti di divertimento, tramonti e aperitivi.
In secondo luogo, dovrebbe essere la pasticceria Leonidas ad Atene, dove amo il profumo del cacao e dove puoi trovare del miglior cioccolato belga.
In terzo luogo, dovrebbe essere il mare di Atene dove si può sentire l’odore della brezza leggera del mare insieme al gelsomino notturno che fiorisce durante tutta la primavera-estate.

First Olfactory Memory..My first olfactory memory is connected to strong woody scents, most likely from my father holding me as a kid in his arms. Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Vetiver and woody notes in general, which I love and use in most of my fragrances as base, bring back the sense of security, trust and power.
How did your love for fragrances come about? My love for fragrances started from a very young age, when as a child I used to discover the fragrances found in my grandmother’s boudoir. They were mainly flowery ones and she had a vast selection with a lot of interesting bottles, some she collected for years. It was however developed through the years, as I also started treasuring fragrances myself and continued as an adult. I loved discovering new and unique scents.
What is perfume for you? Perfume is self-expression; it enriches our everyday life with emotions and makes it passionate, vibrant and powerful.
Can you tell us something about your brand? Manos Gerakinis Parfums, the first niche luxury Greek perfume house explores the values of life and different cultures. Our purpose is to embrace Individuality and so we break the boundaries, floating between the East and the West, the male and the female, the simplicity and the extravagance.
Can you tell us about your latest creation? My latest creation is ΜΕΘΕXIS and it will be launched this July. It is a sweet gourmand fragrance with fig, honey and cocoa. It is very sensual, addictive and it is inspired by our Mediterranean heritage.
In the collection, which perfume represents you the most? It is very hard to choose one because a little piece of me lives in each creation. My first fragrance, Sillage Royal captures the power and success of an individual, Rose Poetique is more fragile and romantic, Anthem is courageous while Quintessence is self-confident. So how could I choose a single part of myself?
What is the best seller of the collection? Immortelle is very popular; it is a sweet gourmand fragrance that leaves an addictive taste. It is very unique, yet it reminds you of holidays, of leisure and fun times.
A smell you can’t live without? Flowers! I love flowers of all kinds and mainly roses. They remind me of my early years, my beloved ones: my grandmother was passionate for gardenias, my mother for lilly of the valley and I love all sorts from orchids and tulips while my true love is roses.
An odor that you love…I love the way books and publications smell. Every time I open a book it feels like I can smell its essence from just sniffing in the middle of it. It feels like an instant connection to its soul.
A smell of food you love…That is a difficult one, as I have a sweet tooth and I would definitely select the lemon cheesecake. I love the smell of cream mixed with the lemon juice and the buttery crust. Even as I picture it, I can recreate the scent of the fresh materials!
A smell that makes you feel like a child again…That would be strawberries, maybe strawberry ice-cream as well but still strawberries. It brings back that feeling of a bowl full of them while some dropping on the floor as you are trying to eat them all at once.
What does your home smell like? My home smells like sweet almond trees in spring/summer and woody notes in the autumn/winter. I like to change in different seasons so I adjust better to time as I change colors etc.
The smell of your city? I lived in many cities but have to mention my hometown Kavala, which smells of smoke: the town’s wealth came from the cultivation of the actual plant of smoke. I currently live in Athens, which smells of bitter orange trees and jasmine. Its scent is addictive to me and I have used it for my candle collection.
Do you collect anything? Yes, I love collecting things. I have a vast collection of stamps dated back to 1863 (the first stamps issued in Greece), but also I believe I have a great collection of fragrances.
3 addresses of your city or a place you love chosen based on the smell of the places Firstly, it would have to be Cavo Tagoo Hotel in Mykonos, as its scent is very strong and brings back memories of holidays in the island, fun times, sunset and cocktails.
Secondly, it would have to be the patisserie Leonidas, where I love the scent of cocoa and where you can find some of the best Belgian chocolate.
Thirdly, it would have to be the seaside of Athens where you can smell the light breeze from the sea together with the night jasmine which blossoms during the whole spring-summer time.
